What is a Hybrid Solar System?
A hybrid solar system combines solar panels with battery storage — giving you the benefits of solar power around the clock, not just during daylight hours. During the day, solar panels power your property and charge your batteries. In the evening, stored battery power takes over. The grid (or a generator) serves as backup when batteries run low.
This is the most versatile solar solution available, delivering maximum savings, energy independence, and backup power during outages — all in one system.
How It Works — Daily Cycle
| S. No | Time | What Powers Your Property |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 6 AM – 9 AM | Battery powers morning loads |
| 2 | 9 AM – 3 PM | Solar powers building + charges battery |
| 3 | 3 PM – 5 PM | Battery fully charged; excess exported (net metering) or curtailed (zero-export) |
| 4 | 5 PM – 11 PM | Battery powers evening loads (AC, lighting) |
| 6 | 11 PM – 6 | Battery continues or grid/generator takes over |
Northern Emirates Grid Connection — Important Note
If you are in Sharjah, Ajman, RAK, Fujairah, or UAQ and wish to keep your property connected to the FEWA/SEWA grid alongside your hybrid system, your system must be configured as zero-export.
This means CT sensors are installed at your meter/DB board, and the hybrid inverter regulates output to ensure zero electricity is ever exported to the grid — even when your batteries are fully charged and solar production is high.
What this means in practice:
- Your solar panels power your property first.
- Excess charges your batteries.
- Once batteries are full, the inverter reduces solar output to match only what you’re consuming.
- The grid remains as backup — but nothing ever flows back into it.
This configuration requires no utility approval and can be installed quickly. For properties that prefer to operate fully off-grid (no grid connection at all), the zero-export requirement does not apply.
Who is Hybrid Solar Best For?
- Residential villas with high evening AC and lighting usage
- Hotels, resorts & guest houses with overnight operations
- Healthcare facilities and clinics requiring backup power
- Restaurants & retail with evening operations
- Poultry farms & cold storage needing 24/7 continuous power
- Properties in areas with unreliable grid supply
- Anyone wanting maximum energy independence
